Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi Guys,
I am planning a week in Europe somewhere Jan 4-11th.
Looking for a resort that is beginner friendly (for my girlfriend that has 1 week skiing experience) as well as some more expansive skiing for myself - i mostly enjoy reds.
I am a little worried about snow at that time of year and unsure if the resorts below are safe?
Bonuses are a pretty village with good food!
Resorts I have checked out so far are:
Avoriaz (went last year and enjoyed - could return).
Megeve
La Plagne
Cervinia
Alta Badia
We will be in 3V back end of the month so not interested in going there.
I appreciate any suggestions!

Our second trip was Montgenevre. Pretty snow sure, nice village, good cruisey blues but has some more challenging runs as well. Linked to the Via Lattea so you can go explore if your girlfriend is in a lesson.
La Plagne would also give you everything you have asked for, with so many different bases to suit your fancy.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Alta Badia scores very highly on excellent food and generally attractive villages with very suitable skiing.
At this time of the year the snow may well be from cannons but that is very reliable in the Dollies and in my experience of good quality compared with man made snow elsewhere.
Megeve is pricey and pretty low personally I would avoid. The rest should be safe for snow but are generally purpose built and a bit less attractive.

I've done some research and I think we are going to go for Montgenevre - thanks!
