Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Socks - recommendations please

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I've had Teko socks for years but the last couple of years the "feel" has changed - they feel more synthetic and slippery, rather than the non slip wool of the older ones.

Any recommendations please for
Thin (light padding on shins etc but that's about it)
Snug fit (hate it when they bunch)
Available in size 3-4 (see above)
Non slip natural fibre feel
Non-stink (due to the wool)

Budget not an issue as they last me a long time snowHead

I use Smartwool, which I would recommend.....usually appear in SportPursuit at sensible money.

@swoafs, Falke SK4 ski socks.

Thin ski socks made from quick-drying functional material and highly insulating merino wool keep your feet dry and blister-free thanks to the moisture-wicking three-layer construction in the sole
The breathable ski socks with a soft, flat seam on the toes and light padding offer good control; the special padding on the shin and ankle provides additional protection
To prevent pressure points and for optimum comfort during winter sports, the ski sock ends over the edge of the boot; for a crease-free fit, we recommend the smaller size if you are in between sizes
Special knitting techniques adapted to the gender and anatomical differences of the right and left foot ensure a high comfort, a wrinkle-free fit, a long durability and protect against pressure points
The mulesing-free wool and functional material are durable and resistant to wear and tear, making them ideal for use in ski socks that are frequently washed and worn
FALKE, a family business founded in 1895, stands for unconditional quality, the highest craftsmanship, innovative and functional products with environmentally friendly packaging

Another vote for Smartwool - as mentioned check out Sports Pursuit for them. The thinner the better Toofy Grin

Occasionally come up with other retailers on sale, but usually in spring / summer. Cool

I started wearing Smartwool last year and love them. I've got these ones (or very similar):

The extra stretch is good for people like me with larger calves.

I've got several pairs of these, and used them for the last 4 or 5 years.

I hadn't heard of Mund before I found them on Sportpursuit, but they are very thin and work really well and are only £7.99 / pair.

Stance. Man-made fiber dries fast, doesn't stink. No itch. Left and right, better fit.

Thanks for all the recommendations; socks for me for Xmas! Didn't like Falke last time I tried them, but will look again, and smartwool, Stance and Mund sound great.

+1 @under a new name, for Decathalon,
I've had Falke's, I'm not sure if I've had smartwool, probably.
I've tried all sorts of socks over the years.

The main thing is ensure they are made with a blend of Merino wool.
The main snag is you can't try before you buy.

HH were very good for a few years from TK Max they used to be 2 pairs for £5 and amazingly comfy and warm.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Icebreaker Merino. Accept no substitutes.

I've got probably seven or eight pairs, some of which haven't seen the light of day for several years, give that they can be worn for at least three or four days between washes without developing any smell. Some of them must be fifteen years old by now but have not developed any holes, any bobbling or any matting, so I consider them among my better skiing investments.

There is no way any pair of socks I've worn for a day in my boots is not developing a smell! Very Happy
