Any recent intell on conditions at any of these gratefully received. Really hoping it won't be a 3 day bender instead of skiing....!
Thank you for any relevant information.

How much snow do you need?
I would expect that all the glaciers will have a similar amount of snow, they are not all that far apart. There are recent pictures of Hintertux in the Zillertal thread, Soelden was on TV last weekend.

I can't help you with those, but I was at the Hintertux last week and it was OK. The biggest problem was the crowds. I think last week was a school holiday in Austria, so things might be better from today.
@rjs, They are all very close as crow flies, and all reporting very different snow levels - from 40cm to over a metre on Soelden Glacier, allegedly...will seek out the Zillertal thread, thank you.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

As of yesterday, it looks like Solden has the most open in Austria right now.
@Whitegold, thank you - I think I will have to ski bus banker it up to the glacier as it's 28 euros to drive up from the town!!

Have a look at Chamonix Skibum, he did Austrian glaciers road trip couple of weeks ago. Looks like the Kaunertal is not worth going as least amount of snow there.
@ed48, thanks, much appreciated - will give that a watch - interested to try Pitztaler as never skied there but might play safe with splitting time between Soelden and Stubai

Maybe buy a pair of hiking boots, shorts & a t shirt. Likely to be very pleasant temperature inversion weather mild & sunny, perfect for mountain hikes less so for glacier skiing (sadly)
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@Snowsartre, It's lovely weather... how about hiring a bike? If you're not into mountain biking, get something skinnier and head along the valleys/rivers, still plenty to see.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

@ed48, Problem with the Kaunertal glacier is that it is a long way from anywhere. Needs to be good conditions to make it worthwhile
You know it makes sense.

Probably not much use to the OP, maybe useful for others, but Kitzsteinhorn has 110cm and the forecast for the next week is sunny and cloudless "Kaiserwetter"
Everywhere was busy last weekend because Friday was a public holiday in Austria, but looking at the live webcams right now there seem to be far fewer people on the slopes today. There are no queues at the Alpincenter chair/gondola lift, and the queues at the t-bars higher up look to be short.

The previous Saturday 26th October was also a public holiday, and all the kids were on holidays last week. It'll be much quieter this week.
The snow was good enough in Hintertux when I was there on Friday, so i'm sure it'll still be good for the OP this week. It's getting cold at night now, we've woken up to a frost at 650m for the past 3 or 4 days now, so while the snow might get spring like during the day, it's freezing over night.

Thanks all for the helpful info. I think tomorrow at Hintertux will kick the trip off and then will see if Stubai any good for a day or two, failing that a drinking day in Innsbruck, or even a day on rental bikes should mean that the trip will be enjoyable enough. Back out on 20 December when hopefully things will be much improved.

indeed but have in Mind that sometimes there, because of the long way, it is almost empty, while in Stubai Tux etc it is really crowded

Also half term in the UK last week so lots of ski teams/clubs go and train.

Reading the title, I thought this waa going to be a trip down-under gone wrong

I was at Kitzsteinhorn last weekend and it was average. Actually, I shouldn't be miserable, it was a great weekend because we were skiing. However, there were only 11km of 61km open. It took a full hour on Sunday morning to get from the valley floor to the highest possible point (I recall looking at the clock when I joined the first gondola queue at 08:07. I checked again before starting my first run and it was 09:10), but as you point out it was a bank holiday weekend. The single narrow piste down to the Alpincentre was total chop by about 11:00. Probably the worst of it though was the amount of small gravel stones around the piste edges, my ski bases took a good beating and will need some work.

By way of an update, had an excellent trip in the round. Skied Hintertux on the first day which was very quiet and decent coverage on the runs open, some icy patches but mostly good conditions . Also got burnt by a charming young lady offering me her ski pass in exchange for 30 euros as she "had to leave mountain early due to an emergency" stupidly I bit - then had to buy another day pass as only one entry to mountain allowed Then skied Stubai for next two days which was busier as they had a ski test event running conditions OK but more ice around - day two they had the snow canons running full pelt which I have never seen before and have skied there in October and May previously. Snow in the forecast for next week. Looking forward to heading back for Christmas....

Do you think that was some sort of scam or a genuine mistake on her part?

@luigi, I wasn't there so obviously I don't know the whole story but I would guess it was a genuine mistake. It's not well known that in the side season and the summer lift passes only work once in the valley turnstiles*. Presumably once the valley run is open it changes. At this time of year it's not unusual for people to ski for a couple of hours and then go home. I guess it's a way for the lift company to stop those people from selling the lift passes on.
* We were just speculating that maybe this is only the case with day tickets? That would make more sense than restricting all.

Same at Kaprun. Only one uplift per day from the carpark to Langweid.
