Poster: A snowHead

Hello, we are visiting Tignes over Christmas week, staying in Lavachet. Can anyone recommend a good restaurant for Christmas lunch/dinner that day? We will be skiing in the morning but would after a nice festive dinner in the afternoon/evening (2 adults and 2 children). Thank you in advance

If you can get in the Queue de Cochon. It may already be booked up.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

You've posted in Off Piste @MrsMc. Are you looking for a refuge luncheon?

Christmas day should be no problem - it's an ordinary day and in the past I have found the evening of Christmas day very quiet. The main festive Christmas meal is Christmas eve and they will be booked up quickly and they will be expensive

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@MrsMc,
Sorry, are you meaning a lunch (ie between approx noon & 2 pm), an apres ski meal (ie about 4 pm), or an evening meal (ie 7pm or later) on the 25th December?

@MrsMc, are you expecting Turkey and all the trimmings on the 25th?
The traditional French Christmas is a bit different to the UK and the big meal happens on the 24th Christmas Eve, sometimes with a turkey, but not always, and served differently with lots of other different dishes besides...

There may be places that cater for the British traditions in Tignes, but not necessarily...

La Table de Jeanne. I mean, you won't get turkey and trimmings, as you're in foreign-land and you'll have to suffer foreign customs, but as a restaurant it is EXCELLENT. Don't worry about buying the 'cheapest' wine on the menu; at €50 it is delicious. It's a short bus ride from Lavachet as it's in Val Claret.
