Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Overnight stops halfway to Mayrhofen

I'm planning to drive to Mayrhofen in January and would like to break the journey just over halfway between the tunnel and Mayrhofen. Looking for hotel recommendations with secure parking.

@tarrantd, several times when I've driven to Austria I've had an overnight stop in the German town of Ransbach-Baumbach just a bit north of Koblenz at the hotel Eisbach. It's just about 2 km off of the A3 (E35) junction 38. It has a good restaurant for the evening meal and serves a good buffet breakfast. The hotel has its own free parking spaces at the rear of the hotel and there's plenty more free parking spaces immediately next to the hotel in a very quiet area. There's also a filling station in the village which has cheaper fuel prices.

From the channel tunnel at Sangatte in France the AA route planner shows Ransbach-Baumbach as just over 5 hours (continuous) driving time.

The hotel is on both hotels.com and booking.com, but you can book directly on the website link I gave.

A bit short of halfway but the Melia Innside on the edge of Luxembourg has a secure car park.

@tarrantd, we stayed at the Ibis at Stuttgart airport once.

Possibly a bit too far south if you want halfway, but it did have a barrier entry/exit car park. We had a van full and bikes on the back as we were moving from the UK to Zillertal.

Hotel Sonnenhof in Perl, which is about five miles from Schengen. Incredibly good value and fabulous food.

The Ibis Hotels are very good value, we opted for the Ibis Styles which is a next level up from the standard Ibis. Ibis Ettlingen (located to the South of Karlsruhe) is really nice and located in the town with underground parking (which was 8 euros 3 years ago). There is a large brewery/pub around the corner which serves lovely food! Very Happy

We stayed here https://bergzaberner-hof.de/ on the one occasion we didnt do Munich - Calais in one hit. Nice little town with typical Schloss next door to the hotel.

We’ll be heading to the Voralberg in January, spending a night in Baden Baden on the way down at hotel Tribe which seems good value.
