Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Kids advanced courses/ ski clubs

Hi all,

Apologies if this has been asked before. We're planning 2 weeks in Alps and looking for some course options for our what will be almost 8 and 10 yr old boys.

They're fairly advanced for ages having just finished a season in Wanaka have loved ripping all the controlled off piste areas of Cadrona and Treble Cone and jumping off everything they can find and tackling pretty much any terrain there.

Problem is they're too young for the normal freeride/ advanced offerings from most ski schools as they usually have a 12yr min age limit. Boys would ideally like to do more freeride/ progress in the park.

Do people know of any courses/ schools that could cater to them? I suspect the answer is they're too young for some, and not local kids for other courses that run couple times a week and that maybe private lessons is the way.

Location wise we're also using to scope out areas for possible holiday home for summers and winters so looking at the usual areas sere Chevailier, Chamonix, Verbier etc etc but open to anywhere if they have suitable courses for the boys.

Thanks!

I believe most ESF start their Team Rider and Competition classes from around age 8 provided they have their gold star. You could probably book a private to get the badge then pop them into that group. Provided it's France you're going.

@noodlehat, What @Henwc, said! If they're as good as you say then a Ski Camp is the way to go. My middle child did summer freestyle camps with Pat Sharples (now the Team GB Freestyle Coach) at about that age. If not, then the only way you'll get what you're looking for is by booking private instruction. I leave that sort of bouncy stuff to my younger colleagues these days, Very Happy

Thanks all,

Lots to look into, it's not so much progression to some semi pro route but just making sure they're being challenged and enjoying the mountain Vs following a train of kids in a ski lesson!
