Good ops voice control call/answer hands-free with Android.
On-ear (not in-ear) wanted.
I've never used such technology so far.
I have no interest in 'music quality' or iPhone, BTW.
Don't mind adapting the helmet a bit.
Do boom mics or stuck-on mics work better in your experience?
Ideally a kit with both options should I need to try it and see.
If the headset you use also has buttons, are they glove-compatible?
My hands' condition (think Raynaud's, although it isn't) means taking off my heated gloves makes my hands irreversibly cold, even on the maximum heat setting.
Hence I don't want to touch the phone while on the piste.
I'd be especially interested to hear from any Raynaud's sufferers on the subject.
Yrs in anticipation,
FG

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

I have the "Shokz" OpenRun Pro 2 and they'll do that, although you'd have to decide if you can cope with the button (or set it up so you don't need it). I've never used "boom mics" [outside of landline set ups], but have used various hands-free calling systems and find they work well enough out and about, although I'm not going to be making calls whilst snowboarding.

Loads of options that motorcyclists use , I have a cardo system voice activated and glove friendly, boom mike , clear calls at 60mph.Base plate sticks to side of helmet and carries the speakers and mike , usb charged gizmo slides on to it and makes it all work.

Many thanks!

Which is the Cardo one you use?
On the Cardo website there’s at least 6 types for motorcycle.
Also under ‘Outdoor’ with an image of a skier, there’s some more.
.
None of them are exactly what I’d call cheapo. I was thinking less than £100 TBH.

The headset/mic look good enough for running etc - but do you use it while snowboarding?
What’s it like for comfort inside a helmet, and does the mic work OK with the helmet on?
Also I see buttons behind the ears, and one in front. Do you use these with the helmet on?
I was thinking more like £100 or less TBH

Shokz: I use it for music at ski resorts, but that model is new so only been used on indoor snow so far. World ok, but you need to be sure it fits with your helmet; is ok with mine. You don't need to use the volume buttons, but all are accessible in my helmet.. YMMV, definitely check!
I have in ear buds too, which also work, with custom moulds, but those are expensive and slower on/ off

To follow up from the chat we had at the Snow Dome on Monday, we were using Cardo Outdoors units - they work with Android, they can be configured to work with voice control (but otherwise have chunky enough controls to work with thick gloves), and they can be made to work in a helmet with or withour earpads.
There is now a Ski version that might be better with colder temperatures, but our worked fine at Les Arcs this year; Dantarian and I could chat quite happily over a decent range with just the two of us, and they get better if you have more people in the group.

Good to see you back George, I have used a Feedconn T-COM Helmet Bluetooth Intercom system which I bought from ebay and fitted into some Peltor ear defenders to use in the Caterham. They connect to android via Bluetooth and can use phone and play music etc. I don't know if this would suit all your requirements but it was cheap and effective. I built the lot for around £60.
Actually I have now sold the Caterham so don't need them, happy to let you have them gratis to have a play around with, DM me your address and i'll post them.
