Poster: A snowHead

We’re looking forward to our first family ski holiday to Val Thorens over Christmas. Do we need to plan and book restaurants for the evening? Also we’d love some recommendations. We are a family of 3 including a teenager so not necessarily looking for child friendly menus. Thank you.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Xmas day should be relatively normal. Xmas Eve is when there will be special menus n all that.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The 24th will be busier than Xmas day. Ive never had an issue just turning up but only for 2. Book the day might be better.
Three that come to mind...
LaMaison. £££ Not cheap. Good food. Probably need to book.
LaPaillott. ££ Mid range. Good food, cosy, bit of a rabbit warren. Might want to book..
PizzBurger. £ Budget end but decent eat in or takeaway pizza and burgers. Can be noisy as it's in the shopping.centre.

A few years ago we spent Christmas in VT and I think a day or two before the day itself I managed to book here for 6 of us a dinner: https://www.hotelmarielle.com/
Was very nice, it was a buffet so plenty of stuff to please everyone, although not particularly Christmas themed. We enjoyed it though.

My son & I went to L'Auberge des Balcons de Val Thorens and really enjoyed it, I think I booked, just to be on the safe side (At Easter)
Some people are a little critical of it but we always liked what we got from La Boulangerie de Val'Tho
On the mountain I didn't ever feel we got really good food and it was a bit pricey. We were, perhaps, unlucky, others on here will have recommendations (I seem to remember Reberty being cheaper for lunch for VT)
