Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Recommendations for a week in Cervinia

 Poster: A snowHead

A group of 6 of us have booked a week in Cervinia in late Jan / early Feb, it’s the first time there for any of us so I’m looking for any snippets of advice. We’ve DIYed it and have got an apartment in the centre of the resort. In particular we’re keen for:

1) One of our group has done 5 or 6 weeks skiing, is more than capable and has decent technique but sometimes gets a bit nervous early on which can lead to confidence issues. Probably will do a private lesson or two, but in the first day or two in particular looking for some nice blues and wide reds to get going and feel comfortable with it all again.
2) General suggestions for good pistes, we’re very comfortable with anything on piste and usually make the most of the in-between and to the sides off piste stuff, not looking for back country or anything like that.
3) Suggestions for apres drinks and dinner, not looking for anything hectic but something with a little bit of life straight after the slopes would be good, as would be somewhere to eat of an evening (we’ve got cooking facilities but none of us can really be bothered with that aside from breakfast).

We’ll likely have a good old explore of the ski area and see what we find, but any tips would be much appreciated.

The Cervinia bowl is mostly big wide motorway cruises, even the reds aren't that bad, but for an easier start the short Campetto & longer Cretaz chairs to the far left of the bowl looking up and blue no.5 are a great place to get ski legs back and build confidence.

Then the blues above Plan Maison around the Chalet Etoile are great too. https://maps.app.goo.gl/SwA85xXd5qR2hVhD7

Once everyone is up to speed and it's a nice clear day, you need to head over to Zermatt. The pistes are easy down to Schwarzsee, then drop off steeper. But if you head wide left under the Matterhorn on 51 & 52, it's easy down to Furi. Then you can head up to Riffelberg/Gornergrat for the iconic Matterhorn views.

The route back from Zermatt on the new 3S up to Klein Matterhorn at 3800m and the long, long Ventina run back to Cervinia are amazing.

Have fun! snowHead
