Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski Survey

Hello! I am working on an engineering product and need an anonymous survey filled out for data and information on potential problems with Winter Sports equipment. If you don't mind, please take 30 seconds to fill out my survey.

@ster, I think she might be using this to prevent the survey being sabotaged by other people – perhaps even other students making lots of random or misleading entries and trying to ensure that each response is from a different person.

Nevertheless asking unknown people on an internet forum to respond to questionnaires is a very dodgy sampling process and the results will actually be completely meaningless. For a start this forum will largely be populated by very experienced and keen skiers who perhaps ski more than the general skiing population and as a consequence have a much higher number of accidents but perhaps a lower number of ski related accidents per ski day.

If she? invented an MOT for these:

It would be worth it.

I had one come off getting on a bus, fell over 40% of the time that day.
The thing was I had my own boots, but used the included ones instead.

Usual sloppy student survey to justify something they've already decided to design anyway - presumably some new backpack or backpack alternate?

Any thoughtful questions on avy gear which is the only absolute reason to wear a backpack?

@adithorp, only the most uncomfortable parts of skiing, helmet and boots.

Of course there was that young child who experienced discomfort of DoTM's ski poles when he clattered the kid around the head with them.

Surely the most discomfort experienced with ski poles is when the basket is removed from the anus of the person barging in front of me in the lift queue.

Sadly, any marks the student is hoping to gain from the survey will be negative due to the poor structure and especially the sampling method. My advice to the student would be to leave it out of the project, but perhaps include a few structured interviews with real skiers on the slopes during their next ski holiday and hence justify taking time off during term time to do some research. I've completed the survey. It's pretty short and straightforward and all fun aside there's no real need to take the wee wee on some young persons learning experience.

@olderscot, They'll learn a lot more if they read the comments here than just from the results of their survey.

Thanks to @johnE, I now have an image in my head of a young, clip-board clasping student, stood at the end of the home run asking everyone that skis in “Can you point to where it hurts?”
