hi,
does anyone have any experience on UCPA holidays?
We want to book a holiday to Val d'Isere for January. We experienced skiers familiar with VDI so don't want any lessons, but the cheapest option includes snowboarding lessons. The non-tuition lessons are much more expensive. We were thinking about just booking it with the lessons and then not doing them to save money? Is that possible does anyone know? bad form?

@rambotion, thanks for looking, but snowboard beginners/snowboard half-time (both for under 25s) are both significantly cheaper (£662 rather than c. £940).

@halibut1, based on my one and only UCPA trip it's not a problem if you don't attend, but it's good form to let the instructor know you won't be attending

You don't need to sign up to the lessons if you don't want to. Typically, on arrival weekend they will open the ski school counter by the pool table for any newcomers to register for ski lessons (if you paid for them). It's perfectly fine if you just ignore this step if you want to do your own thing. You won't need to be on a lesson to hire their gear either, if you need them, unless you intend to go touring and need kits, then you will need to be on their off piste courses to hire the kits.

@halibut1, no problem. UCPA was set up to encourage young people to get active, so their special deals for 18-25 are substantially more affordable than the standard rates as they are more heavily subsidised. At £662 it is really really cheap as the lift pass alone is over 400 Euros for 7 days.

Ah, I understand that makes sense. Absolute bargain. We thought we'd be priced out of ValD for sure, so ucpa are doing god's work
