Poster: A snowHead

There is a larger group staying in Meribel and just a few in Val Thorens, so to meet up daily how long approx would it take to get from VT to Meribel? They are capable skiers so the quickest route would be the preferred one. Ta muchly

2 lifts to the ridge from anywhere in VT (Pionneers or Plein Sud then 3V Express) then you're basically in the Meribel Valley. Meet at the bottom of Mont Vallon and the VT skiers will probably beat anyone from Meribel village or centre there.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@king key, where in Meribel? It is a big spralling resort. It also depends on the state of the lift queues getting out of Val Thorens. But if you asked me for a finger in the air guess I would say half an hour to Mottaret. Two lifts and one long piste

If the weather is bad, meet at the bottom of Mont Vallon indeed (I remember a small dining spot near the gondola's valley station).
If the weather is nice, ask the Meribel bunch to leave 10 to 15 minutes earlier than the VT folks (depends where in Meribel of course) and meet after descending from Cote Brune and advancing on the blue piste till the entrance to VT.
There's a lovely wide and long blue piste called Lac you can all enjoy doing together

VT can get hit with winds then the link will be closed and you have to stay in your “area”
Should take around 30mins I’d expect.
All depends on lift queues.

There's a distinct lack of dedication here. It's about 600m vertical from VT to ridge, which is about an hour's brisk skin (or 90mins if you've had a big night). The VT crew can be in Meribel for first lift if they leave at 7.30. Added bonus is that they'll have the kit necessary to get home again when the wind picks up.

@Casa, the whole 3V can be hit with winds and the links "closed", as a few of us found out at the EoSB when we had to get back from Courchevel to VT after the links were supposedly shut part way through the day.

Yer it’s very common.
There is clear signage telling you to stay in your resort as linked lifts could close at any time.

@king key, In terms of the quickest route just dont be fooled by Ours which looks the fastest way but is in fact very flat and exhausting. Always take Plan des Mains. Most of the time will be on lifts or in lift queues so will vary. Maybe 20 ish mins to Mont Vallon, and 30 to 40 to get to Mottaret and another 5 or 10 to get down Truite to Meribel Chaudanne.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@king key, On some days it might working out a peak (or coffee stop at a peak) to meet at depending on where you want to ski. For example if you were all going to head over to Courcheval the VT lot would want to go up Pas Du Lac from Motarret but the best route from Meribel is Saluire express.
Similar idea for the top of the Meribel valley or Les Menuires.
