Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

February Half Term Europe Trip

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Looking to take the kids (8,11) on their first ski holiday during February Half Term. Partner and I are intermediate boarders who have been to Colorado, Vermont, NZ but this will be a first for the kids. We are UK-based
Requirements
- Budget friendly: Give me somewhere new/undiscovered. I've even looked at Slovenia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, etc...but open to anywhere if it otherwise meets our needs
- Ski school good for kids
- Affordable quality rentals
- Affordable lift passes with varied runs.
- Shuttles or walkable to base as we aren't interested in renting a car. Bonus if there is an airport shuttle or at least a good recommendation
- We don't do ra-ra resorts. Just want something clean and friendly. Anything else is a bonus.
- BUT No self-catering. I'd rather stab my eyes out than cook a meal after a day on the slopes.
- Minimal queues/wait times. Yea, yea I know it's school holidays but I have to work with what I've got.
- Reliable snow. That's obvious, right?

Ive found some viable options online but I'm interested in recommendations from people who are more informed.

Andorra or the Pyrenees are not on your list , they should be ahead of Bulgaria . There will be plenty of good value package tours .
Feb half term snow is good in most mountain ranges bar Scotland .

Don't think budget resorts/countries; it's the flights that will cost you at half term.

Try Easyjet Luton to Basel: £166 return hand luggage only. Then take a train to Engelberg. Any extra costs of Switzerland will be dwarfed by your savings on transport.

Worth checking out Munich flight prices too. Often way cheaper than the usual suspects like Geneva/Grenoble/Innsbruck for peak weeks, and much of Eastern Austria within a 2hr drive.

Italy is usually a good bet for HT as they don't tend to have school holidays in that period, but I think you are a bit late to get HT flights at a reasonable price by now.

I took a look on Skyscanner...flights to Milan & Venice are over £200pp plus luggage for 15th-22nd Feb. Turin and Verona are in the statosphere.

Barcelona had some Vueling departures from Gatwick for under £100(plus luggage), but the timings were bad.

The Basel plus train idea above might be worth exploring, except no station at the airport?!

Unless you can find a package with a sensible price

I see that you have ruled out self catering. My suggestion is that you leave that in the mix.
I fully appreciate your reasons for this, but I have been taking my family to San Vigilio (Kronplatz) for many years. We self cater but eat out at least half the time. More like 75% of the time.
Our experience is that eating out in Italy can be child friendly and budget friendly.
And eating in can be a frozen pizza in the oven, or even a takeaway.

@Grdnofedn, you have a number of difficult criteria there. You need to prioritize them. Nowhere is cheap and quiet and full of snow at high season school hols. The Italian Dolomites would be where I'd start but well located hotels will not be cheap.

The Aosta valley resorts have a reputation for being a bit quieter during half term than most.
I've not been at this time so don't know how reliable the reputation is but Italy certainly has a selection of cheaper hotels in my experience.
