Bit of a long shot but we're staying in Morzine this week and have a minor car problem, can anyone recommend somewhere local to Morzine where I can buy some spanners, or failing that a reputable English-speaking mechanic?

To buy some spanners - the Carrefour down towards Saint-Jean is the only place that springs to mind but not sure it's big enough.

Yes, I'd walked by the place yesterday (and on my previous trips) and discounted it as being a 'toot shop' dues to the general tourist toot in the window, but I went back on the off chance and they actually have a pretty good selection of tools.
For anyone in the future who finds this thread in a similar predicament, Maison Mechoud on Rue du Bourg has a pretty good range of general tools, including spanners, socket sets, screwdrivers various pliers and pipe grips and a small selection of Makita power tools.
We'll find out in the morning if I actually can fix the problem!

Wonderful Aladdin's cave of a place that just keeps going back and will sell you everything from €1.99 crappy toy piste basher at the front through 18m of metal chain to probably a real piste basher if you kept going far enough back

There’s also a big hardware place next door to the big Carrefour (lots of LPG cylinders outside) - and another on the left of the long straight heading down to the roundabout where you go right to Montriond (up from Gitem). Between those two and Mechoud you’ll get most things.

Perhaps I should have elaborated initially!
On the drive down to Morzine my other half was complaining the car felt odd, during my stint of driving I did think it felt a bit off but put if down mostly to having two emtb and a load of other gear in the back. Had a brief check over once we got here and found the bolt that holds one of the fixings where lower arm meets subframe had come almost undone, seemingly for no reason. Call to mechanic at home and suggestion was 'tighten it up and if it does up tight just keep an eye on it.' I'd did up nice and tight, no sign of slipping the thread or any cracks, drove down to Thonon and back today and it's still bomber so will monitor on the way home.
