Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Where best for a late October trip? Not purely for skiing, travelling with wife and baby to spend 4-5 days.
I’ve been to Hintetux on May and it was good but no idea what’s like end of October.
Soelden has the plus of possibly attending the first FIS WC of the season

I'll probably be in Sölden early November, and I've been to the season closer in early May now and then.
But it depends what the weather's like. If it's raining I'll stay home at either end of the season.
Without a time machine that's the best I can do.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I'll be skiing Hintertux from as close to 1st Ocotober as possible when the pass starts.
Last year Hintertux opened before any of the other areas (or certainly Stubai closed again for a period during October). In fact, I met the Canadian women's team ahead of the Sölden races as they weren't able to train there so came to Hintertux, as did the Swedes and Italians, and i'm sure others too, I just didn't see them.
How much skiing and the quality of skiing is completely dependent on the weather, the area is pretty much at it's worst currently and in to September, after which things should start cooling and more snow should fall up there, and stick around. By the back end of October last year they had started up opening the runs on the Kaserer side, and looking back at the Zillertal 23/24 thread, it seemed they opened the Lärmstange chair on 23rd October and the Kaserer t bar opened up about a week later.
