Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Grenoble to Deux-Alpes - xfr suggestions

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
6 of us, New Year week... Ben's Bus is a fallback option, but with a close to 3 hour scheduled timing, not ideal.

So comparing private minivans, I can get one for about £630 return (actually through the comparison site linked from Ben's Bus), but the company - LM Transfers - has no reviews and no obvious web footprint, plus they appear to be Latvian based.

So turning to your collective knowledge here, are there any good local firms that are worth approaching to get a quote? The 'big' comparison sites are quoting upwards of £1k in some cases, and if that's really what a fair commercial price is, then it will be the bus for us!!

Thanks
RC

@ratechaser, https://carsisere.auvergnerhonealpes.fr/en/more-information-about-transisere/82 give the public transport information. The site looks very good and simple to use. It claims a 1:45 journey from the station in Grenoble. I only checked the frequency of busses in the summer - there is one every couple of hours. They may be more frequent in the winter weekends.

You can get a return trip from airport to Grenoble centre for €32 each on the AirPort Express bus (current price) and the service runs to coincide with flights and takes approx 40 mins.

https://booking.alps-airport-transfer.co.uk/shuttle/

You can then take a local service as suggested above but schedules aren’t yet published for the winter.

Or probably just as cost effective to hire 2 cars and chuck most of the luggage in 1 of the with 2 passengers and the other 4 in the 2nd car, its then a relatively easy 1hr 30 mins drive to Les deux alpes.

Are there good car hire rental options at Grenoble? Seem to remember some recent doubt about that.

Thanks, but not hiring a car - I'd be ok driving but don't think anyone else would! And any mass transport that's not pretty much point to point won't fly with this audience either. So Ben's Bus, while not the fastest, is at least an acceptable fallback.

I'm more looking for any recommendations for local (or even regional/national) taxi/transfers. For all I know, this 'LM Transfers' may be totally fine, but the lack of info on them isn't confidence building, so a company that people have used before and found to be reliable, would be preferable...

Budget and Avis both rent cars from Grenoble airport - 7 days hire from 29th dec as an example and have used Avis a couple of times when we’ve flown into there.

I've booked through this website before - https://www.findtransfers.com/

You put your request in and companies quote for it. I can't vouch for the companies that bid, but there are reviews etc on there, so might be worth a look.

I've used both the local bus service (usually have to change at Borg d'Oisans)and Transaltitude to transfer to LDA. The latter has to be booked in advance to be sure of catching it I have missed out through not doing so. I joined the queue and went by local bus instead.

All that is from the Gare Routiere as I arrive by train. You need to catch a bus into the Gare Routiere if arriving at the airport.

Look I get it, public transport isn't the worst, and if it was me on my own, I'd be fine with all sorts of connections. But herding 6 people, some with expectations of a rather more seamless experience, no. Just... no.

Anyway, I got a local taxi firm quote for about 600 euros that I'm happy with so job done...
