Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

How an Aberdeen ski slope became a supermarket car park

You'd think they had somewhat different gradients, and I can't say I'm familiar with the site, but this turbulent tale concerns a planned ski slope for Aberdeen, an Asda car park, and a bungling team of bureaucrats and politicians from Aberdeen City Council.

Let it be a warning to us all!

The report comes from The Scotsman.

Do we have an Aberdonian correspondent who can shed some light on this depressing tale, and give us hope that a slope might soar above that fine city one day?

David, interesting comment, I was particularly impressed by the last line 'none of the officials involved are likely to face disciplinary procedures' The world of local authorities is surely a wonderous place.

The Aberdeen local daily, the P&J has this report which seems a little more positive:

It's scandalous that the process has taken so long. I was a student in Aberdeen in the early 90s and used the old Kaimhill slope a few times - like all dry slopes it's no replacement for the real thing, but as a student who couldn't afford trips to the Alps it was great to have it there.

Did'nt know that they were about to start work on the slopes, I never used it myself in the past, but it might be an alternative to the one in Alford that we use for the kids. I'll have to swing past and check on its progress.
By the way, what all these articles neglected to mention was that all the time it's been sat unused with the matting missing and the poma down, there was a council official sat at a desk somewhere being payed as dry slope manager. Like you said David@traxvax, "The world of local authorities is surely a wonderous place."

Dr Che I was a Agri student there from 96-99 so we probably didn't cross paths. I used to frequent the bobbin aka the King Street Mill amoung other fine establishmants.
