Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Fantastic.

Where? When?

An observation based on the snowpack this Spring - may not be applicable in the areas you skied.

You'd have been up poo-poo creek without a paddle if you'd had to rely on 'orangeman' and the snowboarder to dig you out of a slide.

Last week in Austria. St Anton, I prefer not to reveal exact place for obvious reasons.

Some people just don't listen and have to go they own way. I guess it's US influenced skiing where they have in boundaries and nobody care. We had 2 people fully equipped, not ideal but better than alone.

That footage looks incredible - light, fluffy snow everywhere as far as you can see. I've skied St. Anton a few times and can picture exactly where you filmed based on the terrain. Backcountry safety is no joke. I'm glad you had a partner with you out there, even if not a "textbook" setup. Better to have backup than go it alone in avalanche terrain. As for the skiing styles, different strokes for different folks. As long as everyone gets down safely, that's all that really matters in the end.

No backpacks or Avi gear on two of the guys?
To each their own, but I wouldn't want to be the fella with the backpack if I got buried.

looks a lot of fun though Very Happy

I think we did that first one last year (but with a guide and all the right equipment). Looks fun, but rather a lot of falling over! Or am I just skiing too conservatively.

Nice conditions but what are they doing skiing in that terrain, on slopes with visible avi debris, cutting steep slopes under ridge lines etc without any safety gear?
