We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

SHIFT new windows - HELP!

OK we have one set of old SHIFT bindsing with the old non-dimple windows and then I have a new set with dimples.

I have been advsied to get new windows.

From whom do I get these? Anything Technical?

@valais2, sounds like whoever told you to get the new windows doesn't understand the issue.

The bumps on the toe din windows were an in-production tweak added late in the Shifts second year of production (they've now been produced for six years) as there had been a tiny number of bindings that, due to a tight tolerance issue, had a ski/tour lever that wouldn't fully engage in the locked position and would drop down whilst skinning. This meant that the binding could come off the ski if, say you had a knee fall whilst kick turning - which could be fun as the brakes would be locked-up etc.

This is a problem that will happen early on in the bindings use rather develop over time so it sounds like you're part of the 99.99% of the early Shift users that haven't had a problem so you don't need to swap out toe din windows for the revised version.

Salomon did produce a quantity of replacement toe din windows (part no. L4163660001) when they introduced the new version but they're no longer listing it in their parts list or on their B2B website. I did have half a dozen pairs but I'm now out of them - interestingly, most of them went across the pond to the US.

@spyderjon, ah that's really helpful. The Grom has the original SHIFTS and they come up CLICK and in the fully vertical position. Which sounds like they are fine. And they certainly have worked fine. Interestingly my later ones do NOT come up in the vertical position and do not CLICK but just kind of go past the dimple and then get stiff and seemingly locked....thoughts? The bindings are about 3 months old.
