Poster: A snowHead

In freestyle skiing, is it considered a completed jump if there are two consecutive jumps, with the first one being a forward takeoff, doing a 180-degree spin in the air, landing backward, and immediately transitioning to a forward position for the second jump? My child was judged as not completing the jump because she didn't ski backward onto the second jump platform. Can any expert explain how scoring and judging work in this situation? Thank you so much!

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Currently yes you lose a load of points if you revert (switch to regular) or hop to switch between jumps in most freestyle / slopestyle scoring systems.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

It's part of standard scoring... so yes. In basic terms you have not landed the first trick with sufficient control unless you can ride out switch.
In a local informal jam the judges may be more lenient but the principles are meant to be applied consistently from grass roots up to olympic. It would like saying it's ok to straddle a couple of poles in slalom as long as it's only a little bit.

Yeah, a lot of it is where you do it - if it's on the landing transition it'll count against, like a hand drag would. If it's in the setup for the next feature you should be ok.
Sometimes it really does come down to how the judges are scoring the event, and what the overall standard of the competitors are, and that's ok as long as its consistent.

I'm grateful for the professional advice shared here; it's been really helpful since we weren't fully informed by our coaching team before the competition. Thanks a lot!
