Kit is mostly getting better.
But occasionally I miss things. Or worry that something discontinued will crap out.
…such as my Patagonia Speed Ascent jacket. It’s good for any conditions - thick Berber fleece on the inside and non Gore microweave outer. Breathable, warm when very cold…cool when very warm. Brilliant thing. It’s done many ventures and the moment it dies I will be Very Sad.

Older versions of the Patagonia R1 pullover - mine is easily 20yo and has features like a tiny zip pocket perfect for contact lens drops, thinner non-fleece material under the armpits, and a longer tail to ensure no dreaded draft up the back happens (also made of the thinner fabric...I found it made a difference when I bought a newer version and the additional bulk of fabric was really uncomfortable esp post lunch!)
Might have to grab whatever I can find on Ebay while there's still inventory out there.

DSG changed that. Full manual control, much faster change, blips the throttle on downshift. Got it on both my wife's TT Roadster and my VW R36. Would never go back, given the option.
Although of course manual, which I still have on my Landy, is much better than old-fashioned slushbox autos.

+1
first ever ski jacket i bought was a s.o.s one, bought in 1992 from ski 47 (i think it was their name), around the corner from the olympia exhibition centre.
it was an absolute steal at £100, reduced from £300, obviously young free and single at the time as it is £220 and £660 in todays money!!!!
had it for several years, but cannot remember what happened to it, must of lost it during several house moves.
also had one of their scandi style jumpers that i bought in meribel, again at a reduced rate, but that dissapeared at a similar time!!

1990's Scott Racer Poles, Some POS stole mine along with my skis in Jan. I'm very sentimental about my poles now they are gone they are undoubtably not appreciated by the (Expletive) that stole them and I miss them..

Yes!
Plus quality anorak shells. I had a north face one decades ago that was lightly fleece lined. Perfection for all but the hottest ski days
But overall outdoor gear is getting better all the time.

Salamon Pocket Rockets. They would still sell in vast numbers today. Unfortunately the marketing dept. Listend to magazine pundits (who don't buy ski or understand how skis actually work for average joe) and stiffend the ski thus wrecking it.

Sounds like you look at Buffalo range to replace it (or Alpkit Jura is a good cheaper alternative)
