 Poster: A snowHead
|
Since Easyjet cancelled the late Wednesday-evening flight I was due to get after Inside Out’s Technical Tune-up next week, I opted to fly back a day later (only one, sadly) & spend an extra day on the slopes.
But that means I have to get from Les Allues to GVA in time for 2045 flight on Thursday week, after as much skiing as I have time for. What are my best options? Is there anything better than checking what’s on BlaBlaCar or booking something with Alps2Alps? (Hiring a car works out more expensive than even a private transfer.)

 Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Try Alpybus, or take a bus to Moutiers then a train to Geneva.
The train takes longer than a bus but it's a very scenic ride and is cheap.

Given the train would take over 4.5 hours from Moutiers, you'd need to leave Les Allues before midday......
I really don't think trying to catch the train between the Tarantaise and Geneva airport is ever a worthwhile option.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Each to their own...
It's been worthwhile for us 3 or 4 times when we've had no rush to get there and we had no problem when we had "to leave Moutiers before midday..." Lovely scenery - much more varied - and a more relaxing journey than a bus. And it cost less than €90 for 2 of us to get back to Geneva a couple of years ago.

But the OP wants to maximise his time on the slopes on the Thursday.......

Ooh, thank you. They have a shared transfer due to arrive GVA at 1900. They say that's too late for a 2045 departure, but I think they'll let me do it at my own risk, and I think that ought to be fine. Bit of a risk if it doesn't come off, though, I suppose.
Otherwise the best options are the bus that leaves Les Allues at 12:28 and an Alps2Alps shared or private transfer. I can always make the call a bit nearer the time depending on how conditions (both on the snow and on the roads) look.
Thanks for your help, all.
