Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Black Crow Captis for teenage son

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
My teenage son has his heart set on a pair of Captis. Looking at the Black Corws website, they would fit his needs, but what do you think? This is his info...

age 17
height 5ft 10, weight 65kg
On a red will carve fast and agressively
likes popping off the edge of the piste, but no off piste experience or desire to skin up and climb a mountain
If it is a perfect snow mogul run, can look stylish, but not good on sheet ice moguls!
Will go down the snowpark and pop over the rollers, but not use the rails or whatever.

What do you reckon?

Hello - That's the ski that I use, and from what you've written, they would be perfect for him.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Good review here:

From which I noted "The simplicity of the ski is one of its strengths, as it makes the Captis incredibly friendly and accessible to a huge range of skiers."

Thanks, that was very helpful indeed, especially the section about no need to worry about the 18m radius, I had wondered if that was a bit long and Mach8 would be reached if he is carving on a red!

@SarahRad, Are you sure he's not got a secret twin? You have described mine exactly & he has the captis in 172, moved up from the black crow magnis in 157 & he loves them, it took him 1 day of getting used to the extra 15 cm then he was on another level.

The only concern I have is the confidence they install in him, that wasn't an area that needed boosting Happy

Aha, now this is the type of review I needed. Right, cancel the idea of the Captis, I'll get him those Volkls from the 1980s that had the plastic arches at the front of the ski to stop the skis crossing when doing snowplough....
