I have a good friend going to the Dollies next week.
She and her son are based near ALba.
They will be exploring around the Sr and Great War ring.
I've told them about lots of good routes and runs but I'm not really a foody so some recommendations would be good for me to pass on.
I see it's been snowing quite a bit there lately. Wish I was going!

We were there for the first time a few weeks ago. I can't remember the names of any of the restaurants (sorry!) but we applied the following common-sense rule of thumb and it worked pretty well: places with a lot of passing traffic didn't seem to try too hard, and those that were out of the way (eg at the top of a lift where the only option is to ski back down to where you came from, and so not on a route to anywhere else) tended to be much better, presumably because they relied much more on repeat business.
We actually walked out of two places (both in locations with loads of passing traffic) and our two best lunches were at out of the way places.
I know this rule doesn't always work but it did serve us pretty well when we were there.

I can only give recommendations about places in the Alta Badia area but I have loads for there! La Utia, La Brancia and Biok were all great. I had lovely dumplings at a restaurant under La Gardenaccia gondola at the top of La Villa while skiing with the kids a couple of years ago. Col Alt is apparently great for seafood (I’ve completely missed the restaurant every time I’ve been through there). Crep du Munt fits the profile by needing a surface lift to get away, gets good reviews on here and has a fantastic terrace. Pralongia and the place at the top of Boe have toilets on the same floor. Pralongia food has been mentioned on here. Top of Boe has great pizza slices in the sun trap outsize area and the fancy restaurant inside has incredible views. Jimmi’s near the ridge to Selva gets good reviews. Surely enough recommendations for this small corner of the ski area.

Fredarola. It's incredible. Go for a the fire cooked steak with a Masi Amarone.

Just back from Alta Badia (2-9 March). Awesome week with a snow dump Wednesday evening. We ate at Rifugio Bioch (fantastic and our fave); Rifugio Padon (great slabs of lasagna, really tasty goulash); Scottinis at Lagazuoi or the Rifugio at the too; try Jimmy huette; try Col Pradat at top of Coldosco. Rifugio Salei (tho we didn’t get there this year). Fredarola at Belvedere. We had a coffee and kaiserschmarm stop at Pralongia but it was busy/slow service.

Had a decent lunch on the terrace at Piz Arlara today. Top of the Arlara lift - can't miss it. Friendly, efficient service and good quality food.
