Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi all, I may be searching for a unicorn here. I am fully aware that we’ve chosen an expensive resort and a crazy time of year.
I’m looking for a chalet or apartment for 12 in courchevel 1550 or 1650. New year or Christmas week. For up to £1000 per head. It must have 6 bedrooms (so, 2 per room).
I’ve been searching for weeks and am struggling to find many options. Lots of places don’t seem to have their prices out for next year yet. But I don’t want to leave it too long as we have such specific requirements.
Any suggestions on sites to look at or places I can try?

Have you looked at La Tania? Seems to be a couple of options on AirBnB

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

We have looked at La Tania. At the moment I think we would like to get 1650 or 1550 so we are a bit closer to the main resort and there’s a bit more going on. We will have a few non skiers with us and would like more going on around us. La Tania is just that little bit further out. It’s certainly a back up though. Thank you.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Assuming it's a catered chalet you're after, I suspect you might have to pay a bit more for New Year.

If catered, then leski.com are the Courchevel 1650 and La Tania specialists I think - but you won't get anything for even close to £1k pp over Christmas or New Year. (Note they also provide flights, transfers, etc., but even allowing for that they won't get close on price I suspect).
With respect to C1650 versus La Tania, agree C1650 is much nicer as a place to hang out for non-skiers but, on the flipside from a skiing perspective, La Tania better located in my view. It made a big difference when we stayed there last year as it made it much easier/quicker to get to the other valleys, without really compromising our ability to ski in the broader Courchevel.

or make your life easier and ditch the non-skiers and agree to see them when you're back in blighty ?

@breeze11,
What you expecting for £1000 per head? Accommodation only? Catered? Flights & transfers too?

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Your best bet otherwise, if you are determined on Courchevel, would be to get several apartments in the same building but that won't give you a nice meeting place for all.

We were in Les Saisies a couple of weeks ago and it appeared to have a great network of walking routes for non skiers, some of which allowed access to meet skiers for lunch. It's a very pretty and very French resort.
