Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Megève family restaurants?

We’re in Megève with kids age 9 and 11. Not so bothered about the cost (aware it’s a pricey resort) but finding the menus for dinner a bit fancy for us. So looking for some recommendations for places in the village (not on the slopes) that are a little more informal please? Doesn’t have to be burgers etc but more home cooking type food. Ideally not pizza, thanks.

There is a McDonalds on the main road. You could look in Praz-sur-Arly or Combloux for something more traditional.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks but I am looking for an actual restaurant, (nicer than McDonald’s for sure) and in megeve so we can drink and not have to drive. I just don’t want Michelin star level. Was thinking something akin to bills in the uk. Thanks

It might be worth asking locally - maybe ask the checkout person in a supermarket, or someone like that - though if you are looking for "home cooking" another alternative would be a "traiteur" which sells ready made dishes. A "brasérade" where you have slices of mixed meats to cook for yourselves on the table, with a big green salad, sauces to dip and chips or (much better) gratin dauphinoise might fit the bill and kids generally really enjoy that.

@Flipjango, take a look at the Stanford Skiing website.

Under ‘Useful Information’ they have a very useful guide to restaurants in and near Megeve.
