Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Geneva airport car hire query

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi

I have arranged to hire a car from the French side of Geneva airport on Monday 12th February at 8pm from Alamo. I have just noticed on their website that the hire desk closes at 8pm on the Monday. This wasn’t made clear to me at the time of the booking.

Does anyone know how long staff remain at their desk? Will the staff remain at the desk in the event of a flight delay? I have tried emailing and phoning them but I cannot get a response.

I can cancel the booking without charge and may need to do this in the event that the desk is closed. Any info or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Glenn

Hmm. I suggest you'd be best to cancel the booking now and rebook on the Swiss side of the airport, where hours are much longer (they waited for me till after midnight once, bringing back a car which had been disabled and delayed by a puncture). The Swiss side cars will have winter tyres - and you will be hoping for snow, won't you? And a motorway vignette.

I've had a hire car from french side Entetprise and ran thtough the airport to make closing time. I was still late but they said they always stay until booked cars are collected.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully I can get in contact with them to confirm either way!

I'll stick a quick question on here, rather than a new thread, but if I hire from the Swiss side, is there a cut off for having winter tyres?

@Origen, mentioned that hiring on the Swiss will have winters, but as we are going very late season (20th April) does that make a difference? I can't imagine, for example, getting winter tyres if I was going in July IYKWIM.

@SHAP, Sorry, I don't know. But if I ran a huge fleet of hired cars in Switzerland I wouldn't be changing tyres twice a year!!

@Origen, sounds sensible. Most of the options (Swiss side) with car hire have snow chains as an add on, not winter tyres, but just come across one with both available as options rather than included, which made me think...
