Stumbled upon an interesting video showing the ski making process in Ronin's workshop: First part and second part
Has anyone thought about making their own skis? Either physically having a go using predetermined shapes like the guy in the video, or going big and setting up their own workshop?
I wouldn't mind being part of the process as shown in the videos, I love getting my hands dirty and also enjoy having a deeper understanding of my equipment.
Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

@Thomasski, @idris did make and sell skis at one point, i don't know if that is still happening as he's now working as a pisteur but the site is still live and the skis look great
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

If you want to get hands-on have a look at Douk. They do custom skis and snowboards and run 1 and 2 day workshops and walk you through building your own.
This is right up my street. I'd love to have a go. I've no doubt it's totally unjustifiable in terms of sunk cost or end result but I'd still be up for trying. If I ever found the time.
