Poster: A snowHead
|
I am starting to feel more and more anxious about my trip coming up because I am flying to Grenoble Airport and in all the reviews of the airport are people saying waiting times of over 01:30h, my transfer with BensBus is exactly 1h after I land and I'm afraid I will miss it and be stranded and on my own in the airport.
I'm traveling alone aswell.
Are there alternatives for transfer on the spot from Grenoble Airport to Tignes 1800 ?

Bens Bus are normally all over this, you will not be the only person on your flight on that Bus, and they will wait if there is not another bus to put you on. They are the only mass transfer Company there I think.
I guess the waiting times are Le Border Force, its only 200m from plane to bus normally.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I can understand your worry - but, remember, there will be other people on your flight using the same transfer Bus ; I would like to think that BenBus would wait for any missing passengers..

Thank you for reassuring me, fortunately my booking is with the first bus of the day and I've checked to see if there are more and they have 3 more I think at later times (of course if spaces available)

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I can't remember any issues with landing at Grenoble - BUT I hated with a passion trying to get home from there - and this is on a Sunday:
1) Arrive three hours before your plane is due to leave ('cos that's what TOs do)
2) Wait for an hour for Easyjet to open the desk - rush like mad to join the queue at the appropriate desk
3) Eventually get luggage checked in
4) Immediately join the next queue to get through Security
5) An hour later get to the front of that queue
6) Join the queue for passport control - listening out for the "Last call for passengers to..." and hopping its not your flight ...
After doing this for several years, the last straw was trying to do this with "strained" cruciate ligaments (I was hobbling nicely) I now make it a requirement to fly via Geneva (Fast track and Executive lounges )

Reaching out for any recent experience? Trying to decide between Grenoble and Lyon on Feb 5th. Flight arrives Lyon 09:45 vs 10:00 Grenoble. Meeting daughter en route from UK and hoping to get afternoon skiing in VDI.

Lyon is definitely the safer option, and there is only about 20 mins difference in driving time to Val D'Isere which is made up by the earlier arrival time.

Can’t vouch for the benefits of other airports but currently sitting on the tarmac at Grenoble after semi chaotic check in. “Pick a queue!” Now we’re waiting for the de-icer to come. 2 hours we’ve sat here for so far.

@zikomo, can vouch for Lyon experience based on this morning. Very smooth and efficient.
BA and Heathrow on the other hand have been an utter shttshow at this end.
First and last time I am using either.

Hi how did you find it? I’m starting to worry.I’ve done the same and booked a 9.50am bus and we land at 8.40am and the later buses are fully booked.

@Bluebird1985, For the same reasons above - don't worry. They have built a new Passport Checking facility - friends report it is much quicker. As long as you didn't lie about which flight you were on Bens Bus wouldn't have let you book it if they thought it was too short a time. There will be dynamic management of buses on the day by the reps and although the last one will be showing as full there will be a few spare seats to cope for the really late folks. Ben (not his real name) has been doing this for years and they are good at managing the vagaries of airline travel.
