Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi, I have seen a few reviews saying ski amade is poor for advanced skiers and people that like to go off piste with not much freeriding and the low altitude meaning short runs.
I'm booked up for the flachau/zauchensee area for a couple of weeks which is probably a bit much at the best of times. I'd been to zauchensee once before and so wanted to go back but probably didn't do the research I should have for it.
Are the reviews accurate, as a more advanced skiers am I going to be bored stiff after a week?
Any tips for good things to do to make the skiing more interesting like freeriding?
Also flying solo so any tips on how to join up with some people for offpisting would be good.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@Ionizingskin, you've already asked this in the Ski Amade thread, and there are answers there

Actually I've just arrived.
It does seem a bit quiet and low altitude but will hopefully be pleasantly surprised in the coming days.
Are you in the area?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@Ionizingskin, where are these reviews - who is the author? And, if you are at Zauchensee now, how is it? Too low for snow?

@Ionizingskin, not out till the 27th with a group of 11 but after a previous visit I am certainly not worried that the better skiers will have nothing to do

This thread reminds me of a true incident many years ago. A distant friend says to a lady on a ski Canada stand "oh no, there isn't nearly enough for us for 2 weeks"
The lady politely replies, I ski every day, I never get bored!
Charming lady was Nancy Greene...she has an Olympic gold medal to her name!!!!!

reviews are just on different forums and just talking to people just before coming out.
It does seem the place is more geared towards people staying for one week. Haven't met anyone here thats around for 2 weeks like me.
Certainly most of the runs seem to be blues or reds and geared towards intermediates.
One good thing is that despite it not snowing for a while now not everything around the pistes are not tracked out to hell like it would be in a lot other places.
