Keen to join the 21st century and stop bending over and strapping in so there's basically 3 options:
Nidecker supermatics, not for me as these are basically flows and so you set them up fairly 'loose', I prefer to be solid
Burton Step on, look amazing and very easy, but new boots and bindings is a stretch to far for me
Which leaves the Clew option as you can use your own boots like the nidecker. OK, lets be honest you do look a bit ridiculous wandering around with a highback strapped to your boot, but wonder if it works ok in reality? Anyone got them or tried them yet?

Last time I looked at Clew was a couple of years ago when they were still just some 3D printed mockups and some animation. Had another look and the product now and has certainly developed. Looks an interesting take on the step-in, like the standard boot and the option to not use the step-in-out with the straps depending on what you're doing.
My concern is how easily it'd be to foul the retaining hook so you won't get a clean release, and ice buildup under the boot. With the bar that goes under your foot being quite pronounced, it'd be tricky to skate along without a lot of snow building up around it then getting a clean entry back into the system and getting it locked.
Is anyone actually selling them? Quick search is only showing eBay and spare base parts, and their website is preorder only for next season.

Have a look at the angry snowboarder review. I’ve seen one set in the wild and it looked like they wouldn’t last long being walked around on like that.
I dunno why people are so keen to avoid strapping in. It’s not hard.

I haven't tried them but i bought a pair of k2 cinch for a recent trip for the same reason and i couldn't get on with them i didn't like the highback pulled out as it got it the way of skating and having to push my feet out of the binding backwards was a bit weird, It put me of trying the nideckers as they are similar but probably better.
I really get on with my Burton bindings so i may save up for the step ins.

Watched the ASB review... wow. That was pretty brutal - judging from that I doubt your back is going to be thanking you if you go Clew @ukoldschool.

They don't need to be loose, I wear mine just as snug as regular bindings, the action is a bit different to flows too, they 'click' in on a kind of ratchet thing rather than a cable clamp like Flows. If you've not seen the in the flesh then it's worth taking a look in your local shop.
