Picking hire car up 5pm from GVA
Need to stop at a fairly large supermarket en route to Valmeiner as I need caffeine free pepsi max/diet coke/coke zero and I doubt it will be available in resort supermarkets.
Anyone know what time French supermarkets close on a Saturday evening and which one would be the handiest? Thinking a Carrefour, InterMarche or Auchan?

I guess it depends which route you take but Albertville shops are open till 8pm and at least one Chambery Carrefour is 10pm I think. It's longer in distance but a bit quicker in time to go straight on the autoroute to Chambery so that's what I'd do. Helps if you've got a toll doofer you can take with you but not the end of the world if not as your hire car will be LHD. https://www.carrefour.fr/magasin/chambery-chamnord

There are quite a few around st jean de maurienne
Casino, SuperU & Carrefour probably all close at 8pm
You need to drive through St Jean to get to St Michael before turning right up to Valmeiner anyway.
Ignore all that, as you probably need to pick something a bit further out, as arriving at 5pm, picking up a car, etc. would probably mean you not getting to St Jean until close to 8pm!
I would look around chambery. Lots of options then!
I assume the accomodation know you will be arriving after 9pm?

Thanks - this looks perfect - according to google maps it only adds 5m to the journey time and looks like it also has restaurant so we can eat there which means we won't get hangry en route

There are a few fast food options in the same shopping area. Worth looking on google maps to see exactly what is available. I cant remember off the top of my head if it is a BK or McD. I think KFC as well, which leads me to think it would be a BK, if like the UK!
