Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Went there a long time ago .
My memories are of a very pleasant mountain town with a relatively small but large vertical ski area of very enjoyable predominantly intermediate skiing.
It has a second ski area which I didn't use. Food on the mountain was excellent.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I'm a big fan. The main mountain has good altitude and plenty enough (mainly red) runs for two or three days' skiing. The second mountain is worth a visit for a day or two - most of the lifts are a bit slow here, but the runs are empty and really enjoyable skiing through the trees. With a car, the lift pass allows you to visit Livigno and Santa Caterina, both very worthwhile. Doesn't seem to get the quantities of snow that some French resorts can get, but what it does get it tends to keep - north facing slopes of a decent altitude.
The town is very pleasant, lots of nice, 3, 4 and even some 5 star hotels at much better rates than you will find in big French and Swiss resorts. Lots of good value places to eat, nice Italian food, and some nice bars for a few beers in the evening in the relaxing Italian style accompanied by plentiful free antipasti.
I think the distance from an airport puts a lot of people off, and the fact that the mountain can't boast a single, large interconnected ski area. But if you've got a car, and you're happy to drive to different resorts each day, it's a great place for a ski holiday. And if you haven't got a car, there's enough on the local mountains for a week and I think you can get a bus to Santa Caterina for a nice day out. And of course you can skim on the Stelvio track which is the downhill for the next Olympic games.
