Sledge hire - getting no where fast asking ski hire shops about sledge hire - they just don’t respond. Can I ask the snowheads collective mind - how much roughly does it cost to hire sledges for the week (we are off to VT). Trying to work out whether buying them here and trying to get them in the car would be cheaper…

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

No need to carry in full car. Bum sledges v cheap in resort shops and cheap to hire too. Not worth thinking about in a ski holiday budget! Last time we rented a gite there were masses of sledges and the proprietaire wasn't in the least worried when we lost one ( minus stupid child) over a cliff.

Would recommend bum sliders. Brilliant on sand dunes as well...

There are some around like little plastic snowboards. Bum on one end, feet on the other.

I used to take 2 bum sledges in a suitcase when the kids were small, they take no room at all and are virtually flat so easy to pack (see second link above).

As did we.
We also had a plastic sledge (the one with the brake on each side), which we attached to the bottom of a smallish duffle bag with a couple of bungie cords. It went on several holidays like this.
