Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
hello

I ski and right now, after a fall i use GIRO JACKSON MIPS, I want to change my helmet.
I'm looking for a helmet with maximum safety possible,
I saw this helmet from POC OBEX BC MIPS

https://www.pocsports.com/products/obex-bc-mips?variant=41118961991832

Any additional suggestions? Do you know of any tests on the impact resistance of helmets?

can you help me?

Provided it fits properly (and is fine with your goggles), it should offer very decent protection as it has Mips.

If you want to check out another brand with a very good reputation - look ar Sweet Protection.

One that fits you as OF says. Never buy with a brand in mind and always try before you buy, bringing along any goggles, sunglasses and any other headwear like a merino liner which you might potentially use while skiing.

Also pick one for the type of skiing you are doing. A racing helmet is built to survive higher speed impacts to the FIS RH 2013 standard where as a standard ski helmet conforms to EN1077 (or the US equivalent).

I own the POC BC MIPS which you reference and it is a good helmet but reasonably bulky albeit well ventilated. The shell itself is quite thick compared to other lighter piste helmets. Also beware of fit. I wear POC cycling stuff and like it so the fit works for me but POC fit can be a bit marmite.

The ears are always my problem so I go for a helmet with mips that have detachable ear protection and let my balaclava handle keeping ears warm.

You are correct with regards FIS race helmets, as I don't believe Giro make a race one. I always used to wear Giro helmets because they always fitted perfectly out of the box (I tried POC, Oakley etc). However, the newer Spherical models don't fit me at all, as I have an oval head.

I now have a Sweet Protection Switcher, as its about the only model they make in my XXL size. If you can afford the price of the Sweet Protection race helmets get one, the only negative I can see apart from the price is the limited or absent ventilation, as they are designed for short 5 minute efforts rather than all day use.
