The only thing better than photographs of snowy mountains are photographs of dogs on snowy mountains. Fantastic stuff.

Yeah, the Mayrhofen webcams are looking pretty good right now, and there's a steady forecast of snow and lowish temperatures for the foreseeable... so barring a major thaw, I'm optimistic for the new year week - would be really nice if the run down from the Ahorn is actually open this year!

It's a real up n down weather at the moment here (Chamonix valley). Fresh snow in the garden this morning, rain to 2500m this evening! But rain or snow, there is more of it this month than the whole of 2022!

Wasn’t too bad here. Rain/snow limit stayed around 1800m. Looks like it’s going a lot higher next week though. Will make it easier to get some work done

@BobinCH good stuff, glad the hound is getting into it!
And there have been quite a few posts from Saturday like this that I've been seeing on FB which are starting to cause me angst ( FOMO), as usually I'm out there taking advantage of the early conditions but alas plans in the UK conspiring against me.
I would say that I'm taking advantage of the windy weather but now the wind-chill is in single digits and I don't do those conditions.
Funny how we complain about the chilly dank weather (just back from a wet dog walk along the beach) here saying that it never feels that cold in the mountains

The chairlift broke for 45mins and some pretty hardy mates of mine said it was horrendous!!! Very different to when you’re moving

Yes Lotus 117 in 185cm. Love ‘em! They are my everyday pow ski. Also work fine in chop, on piste etc. 112’s are better if you like turning and spend more time on piste. 117’s better for freeriding.
Today was Pagoda Tour 112’s - superb powder touring skis!

Yes it was ; collected the airbag on the Friday and took it along . It replaces the Avabag 22 L tour pack from Ortovox which was beginning to fray at the shoulder strap / waist belt intersection probably from being flung around empty-ish as the top loading effect of the airbag , engine and cylinder torque a bit in that area . I think is been 6, maybe more, years and I had been pleased other than the clam shell entry - always concerned on it being properly closed but never lost anything.
Anyhow - the new one : lighter ripstop type material, seems tough and is light. 27 L so more space for weight - seems very light; fits very well. Integrated bum loop with carabiner and sewn in loop (at waist belt ) is very conveniently designed but trickier to “stow” if not in use.
I was using the Ortovox pro lite shovel head the bag seems designed for a larger shovel to seat itself properly and give some structure . The airbag engine is on the left side leaving a push for both probe and shovel handle in right. I won’t go into all the electrics etc other than to say that he repack really is just shove it and close it up , and you aren’t chasing that last strand around tha pops out as you kneel on it to keep it all in.
Oh and it looks good in Orange and Black as well. I was using the Litric Tour Zero which doesn’t have zip off optional bags as my research showed no weight advantage and I couldn’t see myself multi day touring with an airbag.
