Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Montgenevre

Think we have settled on Montgenevre (pending accommodation) for a 2 adults 4 beginner kids in Feb.
We randomly bought flights to Lyon about 6 months ago without researching areas and I am just trying to find a solution in getting inexpensive return transfers to Montgenevre.
Can anyone who has been there please share how you did in fact get there.

You can try Snowcab, the main transfer company in Montgenevre. The easiest airport for Monty is Turin and Snowcab do shared transfers from there for 70 euro. Not sure if they do shared transfers from Lyon but I think they do private.

You’re looking at around 3 hours from Lyon to Montgenevre….private transfers with snow cab are around €1026 return, you have to enquire for shared as guess that will depend who else is arriving/departing same days as yourself.

It "might" prove easier to choose a resort that has more/easier/cheaper transfer options from Lyons. The 2 companies - Cool Bus which I have used in the past and Ben's Bus which a friend always used - I think do Transfers from Lyons, but not I suspect to Mongenevre.

If you can get there, Montgenevre is great (IMV). I was with a TO when we went (a long time ago).

@wyattjnr,
Can you not rent a car, the drive is pretty straightforward the last bit up to Montgenevre is a bit twisty but it's a decent road and Motorway the rest of the way I think.

@wyattjnr, Lyon isn't the airport anyone would normally choose for Montgenevre so there are unlikely to be competitive transport options. Renting a "people carrier" car is probably the best option.

Lyon used to be an airport regularly used by tour operators to the resorts accessed via Albertville and Moutiers, but with more use of Chambery I think it has fallen out of favour and will be served by fewer transfer companies - particularly outside the standard Saturday to Saturday trips which from your other thread seems to be your requirement. On the other hand Montgenevre is a resort which is possibly less popular with the French half term crowd because of the way it is easier to access via Italy, and thus more likely to have accommodation for non-standard periods.

I don't have specific knowledge of any organised transfers from Lyon (I have travelled through there, but only with a tour operator who had their own transfers) but I suspect for your midweek to midweek trip renting a car will be the most flexible answer. I seem to remember there is a Lyon Airport train station which has trains up to Moutiers, but you would still need to get onward transfers from there (there are bus services from Moutiers station, for your group you might look at Valmorel as a resort, and taxis from there would be a lot cheaper than from Lyons) but the chance of everything working round your flight times both ways is slim.
