Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@ktrusler, jump on the train, cheap and very easy. Book via Oebb.at

Consider ÖBB.
Frequent Airport bus directly outside terminal. 15-20 mins to station.
Train direct to SA.
We always use the train/bus from Innsbruck to resort and have skis and luggage. Not great distances involved moving them about. Although depending on where your accommodation is on SA you may need a bus or cab.
We’ll be going to obergurgl at the same time. As you say-cannot wait!

Thanks for the responses. We might give the bus and train a try! Our hotel just outside St Anton in Pettneu has offered to pick us up from the train station.

Don’t Miss Apres at the Nederhütte in Obergurgl!

@ktrusler, It is worth booking seats using the OEBB app https://www.oebb.at/en/tickets-kundenkarten/online-mobile-ticketing/oebb-app it is in English too and you can book a short time beforehand. Depending on what time of day the trains can be pretty busy. Pettneu is a good spot, just as convenient as a lot of "St Anton". There are a few spots in the village for drinks though Fredl's Stadl seems to have not recovered post zombie apocalypse, buses every 20 mins which drop you off at the Nassereinbahn

@ktrusler, if you book through the VVT app (local transport co.), you can book the entire journey on one ticket and the price is the same as the train alone, i.e. you don’t pay the extra for the bus to Innsbruck station. If you want to book a seat on the train, that is a separate ticket anyway, via ÖBB (seat bookings are not tied to transport bookings, oddly, and are a few Euros each way).

I forgot to add, you may not want to book in advance anyway, in case your flight is delayed. Buy your tickets while you wait for your bags in the airport, the price is the same.

Thanks everyone for all the responses, so looks like bus and train are the best option. We have skis / board etc. to carry that’s where two teenagers come in useful!

If you don't fancy waiting around for the bus a taxi from the airport to the station is reasonably cheap too.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Just add that OBB tickets in advance, sparschiene tickets, are cheaper. But, as advised above, flight delays from the U.K. to Innsbruck could be an issue, especially TUI.

@davidthornton, you won’t get a Sparscheine between Innsbruck and St Anton, it costs less than €20 full price anyway. Better to buy once you land and know which train you’ll be on (valid for 2hr usually), and booking through from the airport on VVT saves you the cost of the bus.

 You know it makes sense.

@Scarlet, Yep. I was just pointing out the cheap rate tickets generally. And I agreed on the sense of not booking trains given flight variables.
