My good lady has decided to accompany me on my end of season solo trip so it’s just occurred to me I have no idea which resorts are any good for non skiers.
I’m thinking high so i can ski down for lunch, not really needing miles and miles of piste as will only get blocks of 2 or 3 hours, maybe 1.5 hours from the airport on the train, not too expensive as looking for a luxury ish hotel with facilities to keep her occupied for 4 or 5 days.
Thinking of maybe Saalbach even though a bit limited for town browsing, or I did stay in Arosa couple of years back which kind of fits the bill but would be nice to try somewhere else. I did like the lift passes were dirt cheap at the end of the season though.

My other half hurt her arm 1st day in Saalbach. She was bored with nothing to do for the rest of the week.
I’d probably say Kitzbuhel or even Zell am See (if you want to ski Saalbach).

Zell am See, just round the corner might tick your boxes.
I've heard people mention Bad Gastein being good for non-skiers. Or perhaps stay in Briancon with direct access to Serre Chevalier and a large historic town for her?

Thanks, was looking at Zell am see but not sure how it holds up end of season. Thinking that could be a fairly easy last minute thing

Without knowing what your "good lady" (yuk) likes doing, it's hard to advise. Perhaps you should invite her to join the thread, and tell us what sort of holiday she's looking for?

End of Season Bash in Val Thorens? There would be plenty of people for your partner to socialise with.

She’s not really too fussed, just wants to come with me so I want to go somewhere where she can find things to spend a little time. Shops, arts, cafes and that sort of stuff when the spa and poll are exhausted

Cortina would be ideal, though you might have to go a little earlier. If you give her a reasonable amount of pocket money she could have a great time.

Well if she wants to try on mink-lined trench coats, @ollski2.0, or buy a small statue, you can't beat Cortina.

That's true Pam, but it is a lovely spot, she could also go up the mountain and do some walking. When we were in Cortina they had a Maseratti in the center of the town, just unlocked so you could sit in and try it out.

Wengen. As well as you going down for lunch, she can go up, there are loads of good mountain places accessible to non-skiers. The whole Jungfrau domain is brilliant to explore by train and there's miles of skiing.

Grindelwald .. before I learned to ski I had a few holidays accompanying the family and never got bored even in a small resort like Obergurgl. It’s beautiful in the mountains as a hiker/ walker/ snowshoer and even now I always have a day off to do that - so much more peaceful even a little way from the pistes. Having said that a town is nice, and Grindelwald has quite a lot - plus the brilliant mountain railway to go to Wengen and all around. Megeve is a beautiful town but probably best for those who really like shopping. Have done a non skiing holiday in Lech and had a brilliant time.

@ollski2.0, if end of March / beginning of April then look at Lech, lots of nice lunch spots, shopping is either for those with deep pockets or browsing! St Anton not so good for "ladies who lunch" but easy to get to Innsbruck on the train, plenty of posh hotels these days. Many of the places mentioned so far might be not so good from a snow perspective at this time. Some of the higher Swiss places might work, not sure when Davos / Klosters closes, Wengen / Grindelwald a bit low maybe, Zermatt?, Verbier?

Not to sure that this and quite a few of the other suggestions comes under the category of not too expensive, though I don't disagree that they fit the bill in other respects.
Long time since I've been but Bormio might work. Briancon in the Serre Che area is very pleasant though for meeting up at lunch you're better off in the other villages. Up at Monetier there is a very good spa if that is one of the attractive things.
Innsbruck is a lovely small City though I doubt meeting for lunch would be easy.

Innsbruck. A beautiful place for the missus to visit. Reasonably priced hotels (versus ski resort prices) and a great variety of restaurants, cafes etc, as you'd expect in a big city. There are 5 or 6 varied ski areas easily reached by public transport for you - accompanied by her to the stunning views up on the Stubai Glacier and up the funicular (from the city!) to Nordkette.

I would consider Mayrhofen. You can get quite high as a non-skier and proper town with train station. Though not sure what the costs of a non skier lift pass are.

Or "Easter" as we like to call it.

That's where I'm off to the first Easter week with friends, one a non-skier. There are pedestrian accessible restaurants up the top of both mountains, either direct at the top of the gondola or via dedicated walking trails (which you'd expect to be walkable in just 'stout boots', not snow shoes). She gets 'out of the house', some views to enjoy, and that 'lunch up the mountain' experience...and you get more skiing time as you don't need to drop back down into the valley for lunch!
