Poster: A snowHead

Looking for some advice about how far back the bindings can be mounted for an all mountain type feel rather than park? At the moment they are factory recomended almost centre mounted but I dont like the feeling of potentially being bucked off so would like them mounted further back. Any ideas how many cm's I can go back? Thanks

I've not direct experience of those, and there doesn't seem to be alot of anecdotal view of doing what you're asking. So maybe a bit of investigating will produce something to consider.
Try measuring and marking the true centre point end to end of the total ski, looks like the recommended mount is 2cm back from this? Principally to balance rotation in the air.
Then place them base to base and gently clamp them to make them flat against each other. Now measure and mark the true centre of the distance between where the skis both finish touching each other, ie where the rocker / early rise starts at each end.
Is there a difference between the two centre marks now?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I don't think generally there will be any harm in mounting up to say 20mm back or possibly more. Most skis are marked with a range of about 40mm.
Your main issue will be hole interference
Spyderjon will probably be along with his rainman like skills on binding position. If not pm him or give him a call.

My train off thought is that if the true centre of the cambered section of ski lays further rearward than overall centre, then it would would be reasonable to mount 2 to 4 cm back from that point. That should in effect leave it to ski at a balance for the camber section on harder surface while accentuating the shovel for soft / powder

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thankyou all for the replies. I have gone for a couple of cm's back from the line which is 2 back from dead centre so should feel more all mountain now
