Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Are there any insurance compaines that people have found that provide cover to ride off-piste without a guide?
My usual go to is Snowcard but I wondered if there were any alternative and cheaper options around. Puzzled

@Sn00ks, have you tried searching? It's discussed at length many times

@johnE, don’t know if things have changed, but BMC insurance for many years had a clause to the effect “excludes ‘extreme’ skiing”. No one at the BMC was able to define extreme for me so I avoided. If @Sn00ks, has no intention to tackle anything steep then no problem. If he does, then I would still avoid.

The Austrian Alpine Club has no such exclusions

@Sn00ks, This has been discussed at length on a few occasions. The Alpenverein insurance (through the UK branch, Austrian Alpine Club) covers rescue costs without any restrictions about guides, terrain etc (not the greater ranges ie below 6000m) plus public liability etc but does not really cover medical costs for which you need to make separate arrangements. For most UK based folk this plus a GHIC & standard travel insurance should be sufficient but there are those who worry that there might be some unlikely set of circumstances for which this wont work.

I used these guys https://www.mpibrokers.com/

Prices seem to have gone up a fair bit across the board, but as others have said do a search, loads of info.

Well I've done a few searches and I think I'll stick with Snowcard with a Carre Neige top-up.
It might be a bit pricey but I think it will cover everything.
