From the FIS Telemark FB page:
This season promises to be full of ups and downs after Jasmin Taylor (GBR) and Elie Nabot (FRA) were crowned World Cup Champions in March. This season will also see the return of Nicolas Michel (SUI) and Trym Nygaard Loeken (NOR), two strong contenders for the men's title. Based on last season's results, Lea Lathion (SUI), Augustine Carliez (FRA), Laly Chaucheprat (FRA) and Goril Strom Eriksen (NOR) could also spring a surprise in the women's event, and make a splash to undermine Jasmin Taylor's expected dominance.
Jasmin Taylor said: « This is a new position for me, a new challenge and experience and probably this winter will be tougher than ever. We have new athletes, new organisers and a new Race Director. It’s an exciting time to be a part of the sport. »
Elie Nabot said: « It's going to be an exciting season with the return of Trym and Nico, and my team-mates in the French team will also be big contenders!
I think there's going to be a high density of very talented rivals, so it's going to be hard to defend my place, but that's what's going to make this season even more exciting and indecisive than last! I can't wait to take them on, and I hope I'll be up to the challenge once again, so I can play a leading role. »
With 8 rounds of World Cupand the World Championships this season, you'll need stamina, mental strength and thighs of steel if you're to beat the odds and win the Globe.
Adrian Perry, our new FIS Telemark race director said: « We have a full season ahead of us with races in an exciting number of locations around Europe building to a finale of World Championships in FRA, WC finals in SUI and a stand-alone World Junior Championships in ITA. It will exciting to finish the season showing the best of our youth in an environment of even younger racers who will be our athletes of the future. »
We see two Scandinavian rounds this season with Trillevallen (SWE) and Al (NOR). Keep an eye out for the Norwegian squad, at home they are especially formidable and are capable of upsetting the final standings for the globe. The Swedish Telemark Team is also gaining in popularity both in it’s own country and on the circuit. Their two young rookies could also wreak havoc. All eyes will be on the Swedish Team who are just waiting to shine at home.
The French Team will also have a great opportunity to defend their position as the world leader with the organisation of the World Championships in Les Contamines Montjoie (FRA), the home of French Coach; Antoine Bouvier. So get ready for this event of Telemark « haute couture »!
Elie Nabot said: « This season will be a special one with the World Championships inLes Contamines Montjoie, which are one of my big objectives! There'll be a lot of pressure and I'm dreaming of winning a gold medal at home in front of my family and friends, which will be the highlight of 2025 for me. »
The season will end in Bardonecchia (ITA) with the Junior World Championships.
