I would be grateful for suggestions of resorts with corkscrew tree lined runs like the Pierres Blanches above Montchavin/Les Coches and several of the runs above Ponte di Legno. I understand that Serre Chevalier and Schladming both have lots of tree lined runs but are they mostly straight motorways like the runs above Vallandry?

Val Cenis has a decent spread of runs including this type too.
The area generally not predominantly "motorway" type skiing, with nice variety of run type, interlinking and very good scope for sampling these easily.
Some very good restaurants/ food, all at generally decent cost for both this and lift pass too.

Thanks. I went there many years ago but was still a beginner and went too late in the season staying in a chalet hotel aimed at the over 75s, with the staff going on strike halfway through the week to force the company to sack the hotel manager, so not the best experience.
Any particular recommendations for where to stay and restaurants for the evening?

We've stayed in appartment Val Cenis village itself, also "Haute" area just a short walk (literally a few hundred mtrs up the valley) that's predominantly accommodation. Both having very easy access to the various village restaurants, all seem good and we stay self catering so that we can enjoy the food both on and off the mountain with no need to plan much.
Ordinarily visited in mid March, so after peak season, usually not a need specifically to book tables etc. But maybe different at a more busy time.
Booked often through Peak retreats as driving for us, but just any of right sized apartments for us a family of four rather than preference of exact accommodation. They've been very good times there for us and one of favourite ski holidays.

Lindarets in Avoriaz provides some twisty forest runs. Blue, mostly. There are a few others to be discovered in the Portes du Soleil.

@crosbie, +1 for Lindarets / Avoriaz. Also Notre Dame de Bellecombe, Flumet and Praz sur Arly in the Espace Diamant. And the lower parts of the Grand Massif?
Italian pistes are often quite wide which somewhat reduces the "corkscrew" feeling. Ponte di Legno is an exception, as the OP has mentioned.

+1 for Lindarets - but worth flagging that some of these runs can get really busy, and with a high % of beginners, so not necessarily runs you can fly down from top to bottom. The ones from the top of Avoriaz especially. The ones from the Linadrets bowl down to the bottom of the ardent gondola tend to be quieter.

Morillon in the Grand Massif has Marvel, which is a 5km run twisting through the trees, and maybe is the best green run in the world!!
