Poster: A snowHead

bug, email from Ryanair advising Edi-trn flight has been axed. So now on the hunt for a new resort and flights… any suggestions on small resorts with good snowfall and less than a 2 hour transfer, flying from Glasgow or Edinburgh. The search is on!

Geneva or Milan - both have year-round flights from Edinburgh so much lower risk. Vast array of choices from either.
Once you've narrowed down the options, and provided some dates, it'll be easier to speculate about resorts. Mid Jan or early March, you could go almost anywhere. Early Dec or mid April, you'd be a lot more limited.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Jet 2 Edinburgh Innsbruck or Sleazy jet to Venice. Both Saturday's
Lots of Italy and Austria options.
Anything that avoids Ryanair is a plus for us though Jet 2 is our preference as they have been good a couple of times when things have gone pear shaped weather wise.

Or simply change in Frankfurt or Amsterdam. From there almost any airport is within range with hundreds of resorts 2 hours from an airport.

Simple????
Not used Frankfurt but Amsterdam is top for separating you from your luggage.

@ac505, I also fly from Edinburgh and our trips for the last several years have almost exclusively been via Geneva or Milan Malpensa, often visiting multiple small resorts. Advantage of these airports is that there are flights almost every day, and less chance of big problems caused by your flight being cancelled) which some carriers seem to be doing a lot at the moment.
A couple of options that fit your criteria:
- Madesimo from Milan
- Les Contamines from Geneva
If you click on my signature at the bottom of this post it'll take you to a trip report with links to all the previous trips... could provide some inspiration.

I'd steer clear of Frankfurt too based on my experience over the past couple of months.

EasyJet, Edinburgh to Lyon then either head to the Maurienne Valley with its multitude of small resorts such as Valloire, Valmeinier, Val Cenis etc or Oz en Oisans or Vaujany with their links into Alpe d’huez.

Jet2 also fly to Salzburg from Edinburgh. We are flying Edi to Inn in Jan, staying in Fiss. Half Board at the Belmont is about 103 Euros per night.

Malpensa always been a good option from Edinburgh tons of flights and cheapish hire cars compared to Geneva, most of the Aosta resorts within 2 hours travel.
