Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Chalet options in Austria large group of 10/12

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hey all I was wondering if I could ask for advice / guidance for our next ski trip which will be a group of 10/12.

We have been to Saalbach for our first trip (5 people), did val thorens this year for our second trip (10 people), which were both phenomenal experiences, and now we’d quite like to head back to Austria for our 3rd skip trip next year.

It would be really nice if we could find chalet accommodation this year, but having done a few searches on Google this is proving to be difficult to find for a size of 10-12 with a budget of £800pp for accommodation (?inflation to blame NehNeh ). Are there any websites in particular I should be looking at?

I’d also like your opinion as to where we should be looking for our next resort which would need to cater the abilities of beginners and intermediates. The previous resorts were excellent with the variety of slopes on offer. The apres doesn’t matter so much as we tend to hang out back in the accommodation with the occasional trip to a nice bar / restaurant.

I have been looking at the Alberg area and lech seems to be a nice cosy resort from the comments I have been reading on here?

Would be great to hear your views

That's a tight budget, regardless of inflation if you are looking for fully-catered accommodation. I understand tight budgets - maybe you could compromise and rent a place where you can cater for yourselves for breakfasts (not taxing or expensive) and some evening meals (also not taxing if you have a reasonable supermarket and give a bit of thought beforehand to stuff you can take with you, and how to share out the work equitably). Some evenings you could go out, or get something brought in - lots of resorts have people who will do that.

Nice places for that number are not easy to come by. If you go catered, are you willing to look at a bigger place, shared with others, or do you want a place exclusively for your own group?

Sorry forgot to add that we would be looking at self catered to save on food and ideally exclusive but compromises can definitely be made if necessary.

The whole chalet thing is quite a French thing and while you can find them elsewhere they are a lot thinner on the ground in Austria and Italy.

If it's self-catering then your choices are far greater, but possibly still greater in France, where the tradition of self-catered holidays seems stronger. Your budget suddenly becomes generous!!

and a cheaper one, very nice, sleeps 14, piste-side. I've rented this one twice! https://www.gites-de-france-savoie.com/Hebergements/gite/le-gite-de-bisanne-73G317117.html

I'm just adding in these links to give you a feel. There are loads out there but some weeks will be pretty heavily booked already. Are you flexible on timing?

@chubuking, finding apartments in Austrian resorts should be relatively easy though size might be an issue here, you might have to have multiple units in the same building. More people probably stay in self catered apartments than they do in hotels (easier for owners to run as no need to provide breakfast, clean rooms every day etc). The best place to look is on the local tourist board website, there will be an English version. Example for St Anton https://www.stantonamarlberg.com/en/accommodation/accommodations. If you cant find what you want try emailing the tourist office directly

Hey Pam thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately due to Visa issues we are limited to just Austria this year!
