apologies if mentioned before, but I need a few cms taken off the leg of my arcteryx ski trousers. They were new old stock, much too long for me, and have the keprotec ankle bits - so I will need someone who is familiar with this, not just a nice seamstress/person. Any ideas please?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Hem them then, before a broader border disorder sparks alteration altercation alliteration... too late!

Well they both responded quickly. One quoted a minimum of £60+ and the other £93. I understand people need to earn a living but the lesson is - don't buy ski trousers thinking, - it's OK I'll just get them turned up.

If they're arc'teryx then best bet is probably to sell them for a good price and buy more appropriately sized ones.

@Pili, don’t turn them up, what you need to do is to take in a small tuck of material partway up the calf. That way the bottom reinforced patches are left fully intact.
My kids used to have salopettes that came like this, so you could let them down as they grew. The tuck was just below the knee where there was an articulation seam anyway.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

This -- I took a pair of ski trousers to a seamstress in our local market some year ago and explained about the inside ankle protectors, think she would have to unpick them and refit.
She took one look and suggested shortening the trouser half way up the leg.. Worked a treat..

yeah, I know you don't just hem them like a pair of trousers, but take them up somewhere higher on the leg. On balance I think I have decided just to get a bit taller.
