Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Airbag advice needed

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I am new to avalanche safety systems, having bought a transceiver this year for peace of mind.

I am now in the market for a lightweight ABS kit to be used/carried mostly on the side of piste and the occasion hors-piste ski week.

Any advice on how to chose?

You will also need a shovel & probe. I & @Wendyjh have Scott Alpride E1 airbags yet to be used in anger but seem to work well in practice.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

+1 for the Scott. I like being able to swap the airbag between packs - use the 30L most of the time, but the 40L is handy for bigger trips and carries well.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Decide what's important and what's not? For me, I'm never out more than a day, and someone will bring me my lunch, so weight is the most important factor. Air Canada [incorrectly] confiscate the cylinder about 5% of the time, although they pay for a replacement. You can't carry cylinders into the US.

I've used most bags, and the more modern ones are smaller and nicer to use than they were a few years ago.
To me, the triggers are all the same, the thing which makes me like them or not like them is the fit/ weight/ handling.
So I'd try some on.
