@valais2, a mate skied into him the beginning of December and severed his Achilles and other tendons. The subsequent operation failed after 7 or so weeks, and the tendon retracted back.
Fortunately 2hrs down the road is the French equivalent of Noel Fitzpatrick Supervet, who he worked alongside for a year. So a very technical operation with a prosthetic and then the tendons stitched around it.
All was going well and he was 11 weeks post op and another week he'd be allowed off the lead, but he suddenly started limping and I though we were back to square one, but an x-ray showed the prosthetic was all good and he'd torn a muscle, and two days later he was ok.
I'll start running with him next week but we're very nervous.
Vet said he'll be 75% of what he was in the first year, so fingers crossed etc, downside he's put a couple of extra kgs on but once we up the distance he'll trim down.

@Weathercam, so sorry to hear about that…a deep fear of all trail-dog and ski-dog owners…the terriers are slower I guess, and very bright, so they seem to take the straight line between the turns rather than always try to follow you…
Glad that you have such a competent animal medic locally … given that some town in F don’t even have a doctor it’s great that you have such a great resource….
Hope the rehabilitation continues…..
And just how bad did your friend feel???
