Les Gets used to give over 75’s a free pass. Now you have to buy a season pass for 50€. In addition, you can’t add one, two or three days Carte Neige to the pass, you are obliged to take insurance for the whole season. Lots of resorts, including Courchevel, give a free pass, and la Plagne is only 10€, so les Gets is taking the p*** and I shan’t be back!

Welcome to SHs, @Goodcook. some resorts still give free passes to over 75s but lots don't. I'll be in the Espace Diamant the first week of April and a pass will cost me 188 euros for 6 days. 50 for a season is an amazing bargain!! I would be delighted to pay 50 euros for a week!!

We love Crest Voland and les Saisies and have many friends there, but Espace Diamanté have never been generous to the old dinks. Of course 50 is a great bargain for a season, but we aren’t out here for a season. The whole point is that having paid for ski passes for nearly 70 years it is nice to have a free one!

@Goodcook, you are quite correct that up till about three years ago it was free for over 75s in Les Gets. We used to live there so kept up to speed with these things for visitors etc. My OH bought a season pass for 50 odd euros when we visited before Christmas 2022 as there was the chance we might have been back for a couple of days in January. We had the senior discount for my pass as not quite 75 yet.
So January we ended up skiing in Austria and our Ski Amade passes came with no reduction for seniors.
Now in Italy and we are getting a small seniors reduction on passes for 11 days.
Bonus might be that OH bought a season’s worth Carte Neige to go with his very reasonably priced over 75s season pass in Les Gets, so when he skis in Tignes at Easter, FREE, he will already have the carte neige.
Honestly I can’t see what you are whinging on about.

@Goodcook, p.s. Carte Neige is an annual insurance. Carré Neige is the one with lift passes and may not even be on the LG/PdS passes (I'm actually pretty sure it's not).
Anyway, you want the annual Carte Neige for the canyonning, extreme steam ironing, downhill rollerblading, etc. the rest of the year.

Total agreement. Imagine how the OP would react to Whistler, which charges $200 for its over-75 pass! My father is delighted with it and thinks it's a fantastic bargain, esp as it cover summer lift access for hiking too & still qualifies for regular season pass perks (like paying $400 for a $500 gift card, which is useful if anyone in your group is planning on taking lessons.) WB raised the age from 70 to 75 about a decade ago (so, pre-Vail) which I'd assume is in reflection of how many very healthy 70-somethings there are knocking about in the mountains.

@AndreaC, we are indeed very lucky as healthy 70-somethings to be able to still knock around in the mountains.
