Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just got back from Alpe d'Huez

Hi guys.

Just got back from a long weekend in Alpe d'Huez.
Arrived there Thursday night and planned 3 days of ski from friday tom sunday.

Friday - Lifts opened around 11am due to bad weather and strong wind, we got around 30 minutes of sun but most of the time it was very windy and cloudy, slopes bit icy
Saturday - Raining and windy the whole day, we didn't ski
Sunday - A bit cloudy in the morning then sunny... VERY sunny and hot, at noon everything was crazy slushy, looked like Zermatt in the summer.

Most of my ski trips are long weekends like this, with 3 or 4 days of skiing, this was probably the worst one, only 2 days of ski, one bad visibility day and the other one slushy and way too hot Confused

Next week I'm going again, still haven't booked anything, but probably going higher to avoid high temperatures... any tips? Cervinia/Zermatt maybe?

The FL was ridiculously high yesterday due to foehn winds, I'm not sure anywhere in the French Alps would really have saved you from the temperatures. Cervinia can suffer badly from high winds and end up with most of the area closed. Honestly I'd just chalk it up to an unlucky timing with a very active set of weather systems passing through, maybe others can offer some thoughts on resorts that can operate in quite high winds?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Sorry to hear that. Go to the threads where people deny the snow is bad, and take their advice wink
Or maybe not.
